<p>A new left-back is high on United's list of targets, with Mendes reportedly joined by Rayan Ait-Nouri of Wolves, Chelsea's Ben Chilwell and young prospect Alvaro Carreras of Benfica <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/man-utd-three-man-left-back-shortlist-ruben-amorim-january-transfer-window/blt92f385c593ed1774" target="_blank">on the club's shortlist</a>.</p>

<p>According to Sky Sport's <a href="https://x.com/Plettigoal/status/1869337900019482693" target="_blank">Florian Plettenberg</a>, Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies and AC Milan star Theo Hernandez are also being considered. But 22-year-old Mendes retains a 'strong interest' from the Red Devils.</p>
