<p>The multi-use venue, which is situated in Qiddiya City, is set to provide the backdrop to some of the region’s biggest sports, entertainment and cultural events. WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>The Prince Mohammad bin Salman Stadium, which has been designed by leading architectural firm Populous, will be the world’s first fully integrated venue with a combined retractable roof, pitch and LED wall. Clever planning will allow the venue to switch seamlessly between “event modes” in a matter of minutes.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>According to Qiddiya, which is a sponsor of Saudi Pro League clubs Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal, the LED wall will be “a portal to live event broadcasts, high-definition films and laser shows offering guests a novel, immersive experience with each visit”. Visitors will be able to enjoy “multiple spectacles in a single day, including football, boxing, esports, concerts, and theatre performances”, while they will be provided with access to “live data and information including the use of state-of-the-art holographic technology, enabling virtual interactions with celebrities and stars”.</p>

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID?

<p>The Prince Mohammad bin Salman Stadium will be located at the top of the “breathtaking 200m-high Tuwaiq Cliff”, which is just 40 minutes from Riyadh, and is in “direct proximity to 50,000 square meters of shopping, dining, entertainment spaces and hotels”.</p>

DID YOU KNOW?

<p>Once open, the spectacular stadium will house 45,000 spectators. It will also be one of the proposed venues for the 2034 World Cup, should the bid prove successful. It is set to play host to contests at the Saudi King Cup, the Asian Cup and the 2034 Asian Games – with it suggested that 7.6 million visitors could be welcomed through the doors on an annual basis.</p>
