<p>The Gunners’ ability to capitalise on set-pieces has been a defining feature of the team in the 2024-25 season. Since the start of the last campaign, the club have scored 22 goals from set-pieces, the most in the Premier League. Last week, in a crucial encounter against Manchester United, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/no-gabriel-no-problem-winners-losers-arsenal-set-pieces-ruben-amorim-man-utd-loss/blt09eb638964f6c375" target="_blank">Arsenal emerged triumphant as they scored from two corner kicks</a>.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Much of Arsenal's prowess from set-pieces is credited to the club's set-piece coach Nicolas Jover and to recognise his contribution, a mural of the Germany-born coach appeared near Emirates Stadium ahead of the club's Champions League fixture against AS Monaco on Wednesday.</p><p>Rival fans, however, mocked the gesture as an X handle named <a href="https://x.com/ibishaq999/status/1866910886461669472" target="_blank"><em>IB Fonago</em></a> wrote, "Small club mentality."</p><p><a href="Dominic King" target="_blank">Dominic King</a> wrote, "A mural for a set piece coach. Let’s say that again: a mural for a set piece coach. Oh my."</p><p>A fan with the handle <a href="https://x.com/KJLFC87/status/1866915075048738875" target="_blank">KJLFC87</a>, mocked the Gunners, calling them the new 'Stoke' as the post read: "Celebrating being the new Stoke."</p><p>A fan named <a href="https://x.com/johngibbonsblog/status/1866913938203357321" target="_blank">John Gibbons</a> compared Arsenal to Manchester City, saying, "This is worse than when City fans did a banner for a lawyer."</p><p>A handle named <a href="https://x.com/Elishamahh/status/1866913009228189858" target="_blank">STUNNA </a>wrote, "WHYYY? It's almost like we care more about these types of stuff than winning trophies."</p>

WHAT THE FANS ARE SAYING

<p>After the United clash, former Red Devils star <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/arsenal-stoke-city-ex-man-utd-star-dimitar-berbatov-gunners/blt3ad11a4e663484f4#cs90e63a2a9df30e12" target="_blank">Dimitar Berbatov compared the Gunners to the Stoke City</a> side managed by Tony Pulis. Under Pulis, between 2006 and 2013, Stoke earned a reputation for being set-piece specialists, with Rory Delap's long throws being a signature weapon.</p>
