Trouble for Man Utd as PSG outbid Red Devils with €70m offer for Benfica star Joao Neves

<p>Manchester United have reportedly offered Benfica €60 million (£50m/$65m) for Neves ahead of a potential summer move, however, as per <a href="https://www.abola.pt/futebol/noticias/psg-tenta-ultrapassar-concorrencia-de-luxo-para-contratar-joao-neves-2024071019111714804" target="_blank">Portuguese publication, A Bola</a>, PSG have made a higher offer than the Red Devils worth €70 million (£59m/$76m).</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p><a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/man-utd-smash-transfer-record-joao-neves-extensive-scouting-mission-benfica-portugal-team-bruno-fernandes/blt4d3682d88c397cea" target="_blank">The Premier League side have been looking to sign Neves since the end of the season</a>, however, Benfica's unrealistic asking price of €120 million (£110m/$130m) has put them off and the Portuguese club are unwilling to negotiate on the 19-year-old's price.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Benfica are looking to offer a new contract to Neves this summer. The youngster currently earns a reported wage of around €500,000 per year and the club wants to bump that up to €1 million.</p>
