Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal heir, Andre Silva, downed Real Madrid on Wednesday to continue his inspired form.
The striker, who joined Sevilla on loan from Milan in the summer, has been prolific since his arrival in La Liga, netting seven goals in just six appearances.
Indeed, the 22-year-old hit a brace as Sevilla thumped Real 3-0 on Thursday, in a result which denied Julen Lopetegui's charges the chance to take top spot in Spain.
Lopetegui may not have been surprised, however, having managed Silva at Porto between 2014 and 2016, though he did not see Silva score a league goal under his management.
The likes of Vincent Aboubakar and Dani Osvaldo were routinely preferred to the Portugal international when Lopetegui was in charge, but his exit saw Silva find his feet, and he hit 24 goals in 58 games across a season and a half.
Milan were subsequently persuaded to pay €38 million (£33m/$44m) to take the star to Italy, and Ronaldo even named Silva his heir at international level.
"When I retire, Portugal will be in good hands because they have already found a great striker: Andre Silva," Ronaldo told Gazzetta dello Sport in 2017.
While Silva's international record compares favourably to the Juventus striker's - he scored 13 goals in 28 games, while Ronaldo only managed to hit nine in the same period of time - he struggled in Serie A before his move to Spain.
In a season in which Milan finished sixth, Silva scored just twice in Serie A, despite playing in 24 games.
It appears that he has now found his niche in Spain, hitting a hat-trick on his league debut as Sevilla hammered Rayo Vallecano 4-1.
He has also been part of two defeats, to Real Betis and Getafe, but a goal in the 6-2 mauling of Levante and another two against Real has restored his momentum as Sevilla look to climb the table.
The club are currently fourth, and are just three points behind both Barcelona and Los Blancos. They next face Eibar in La Liga before a Europa League clash with FC Krasnodar.
