CafCL: Orlando Pirates deliver impressive performance against Disciples FC to advance to the second preliminary round

Just nine minutes into the game, the hosts took the lead thanks to an own goal by Andoniana Andrianavalanova. The Buccaneers seized control early, and it didn’t take long for them to strike again. Relebohile Mofokeng finished off a slick one-two with Patrick Maswanganyi to double the lead.&nbsp;Then, on the 29th minute, Maswanganyi stole the spotlight, curling a stunning long-range shot into the top corner, making it 3-0 and leaving the crowd buzzing. The visitors attempted to find their rhythm, but by the half-time whistle, the Buccaneers went into the break with a commanding 3-0 lead. In the second half, Pirates maintained their dominance, leaving Disciples with only a handful of chances at goal. On the stroke of the final whistle, substitute Karim Kimvuidi added the nail in the coffin with a fourth goal to secure Pirates’ spot in the second preliminary round after winning 4-0 on the night.

The home side's performance was a significant improvement from the first leg, as Pirates were able to find the back of the net and get goals on the scoreboard.

After holding the Buccaneers to a draw in Mauritius, Disciples struggled to penetrate their opponents' defence. Even when opportunities arose, they failed to capitalise on them.

THE BIG LOSER

The Buccaneers will now focus on the MTN8 semi-final round.&nbsp; They face Cape Town City in the first-leg away at DHL Stadium on Tuesday, August 27th.
