<p>Burnley won the Championship in Kompany's first season in charge but he was unable to prevent them from suffering relegation from the Premier League last year. That didn't stop Kompany being <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/burnley-bayern-munich-vincent-kompany-baffling-appointment-shambolic-search-thomas-tuchel-replacement/blt69ea5aeb5653c948" target="_blank">appointed as Bayern manager</a>, though, much to the bemusement of ex-Clarets boss Dyche. The former Everton manager has claimed that Kompany left the Lancashire outfit with £127 million ($164m) of debt and after only amassing 24 points for Burnley in the Premier League last season, he's amazed the Belgian was still able to get the top job at Bayern.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>He told <a href="https://talksport.com/football/3045527/sean-dyche-vincent-kompany-bayern-munich-burnley/" target="_blank">talkSPORT</a>: "We've gone to big Komps (Kompany), haven't we? 24 (points), I think they got. It's been £127m and got the Bayern job. Come on, I don't know how that works. I wish I was doing it. I wish I'd have left the club £127m in debt and then got the Bayern job. Anyways, there's an interesting twist of life."</p>

WHAT SEAN DYCHE SAID

<p>Dyche led Burnley into Europe and helped them punch above their weight in the Premier League for many seasons, albeit with an attritional style of play. Kompany is seemingly doing a good job at Bayern so far but his attractive brand of football would have been a factor in getting that post, along with <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/bayern-munich-vincent-kompany-tactical-tweaks-paying-off-harry-kane-new-role-first-trophy/bltb7237ec346f177a1" target="_blank">many other managers turning down the role</a>.</p>

<p>While Dyche looks for a way back into football management, Kompany's Bayern will take on St Pauli in the Bundesliga on Saturday as they bid to wrestle the title back from Bayer Leverkusen.</p>
