Kaizer Chiefs are expected to <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-za/lists/i-will-have-a-meeting-with-the-team-president-nasreddine-nabi-confirms-kaizer-chiefs-offer-as-accomplished-coach-looks-to-end-as-far-rabat-stint-with-cup-success/blt3d2761ea3d840ce0" target="_blank">announce Nasreddine Nabi as their new coach</a>, replacing Molefi Ntseki who was fired in October 2023.They have targeted the 58-year-old Tunisian despite several other big name coaches being thrown around as candidates to work at Naturena.The names included Pitsio Mosimane who former Chiefs coach Muhsin Ertugral feels should have been hired instead of Nabi.

WHAT HAPPENED?

"I don't see the need to pay attention to a coach that Chiefs knows nothing about [Nabi] when Mosimane is unemployed and does not hide the fact that he grew up as a Chiefs fan," Ertugral told <a href="https://www.isolezwe.co.za/ezemidlalo/ibhola/u-ertugral-ukhalima-ichiefs-ngomqeqeshi-engamazi-98395512-244a-4cb1-be8c-8d9d54997421" target="_blank">Isolezwe.</a>"The silence of Chiefs is shameful because they do not act like a team that is considered to be great."Everything they know about the coach they are associated with is from the media, but they know Mosimane's work."Hiring Mosimane will reduce many problems that would come with a new coach who still has to learn a lot not only about the team but also about the league," the Turkish national team technical advisor added."When the Chiefs hired me years ago, they told me that there is a culture that is followed, but I don't believe that it is still being followed."This is not the Chiefs I know, who have gone for almost ten years without putting anything in the trophy cabinet as if nothing had happened," he continued."It's not that I'm talking bad about the coach identified in Chiefs, but it doesn't make sense to hire a foreigner when Mosimane is not working anywhere if you're determined to bring back the happy times."

WHAT ERTUGRAL SAID

It will be the first time for Nabi to work in South Africa following stints in Libya, Sudan, Tanzania and Morocco.He will arrive with expectations to end Chiefs' nine-year trophy time and the demanding Amakhosi fans might not listen to excuses that he might need to adjust to the Premier Soccer League.But having previously enjoyed a successful spell at Young Africans in Tanzania where he won back-to-back trebles, that could give Chiefs fans hope that he will hit the ground running to challenge Mamelodi Sundowns and fellow Sowetan giants Orlando Pirates for the domestic trophies on offer.

Chiefs are expected to officially announce Nabi as their new coach in the next few days as he now finishes his tenure at Moroccan side AS FAR Rabat.Meanwhile, Mosimane is a free man waiting for a new team to hire him but said earlier this year he fancied a national team job.
