Following his impressive performance for Spain at Euro 2024, Zubimendi has been heavily linked to a summer transfer to Liverpool. Arne Slot is reportedly a big fan of the 25-year-old midfielder, and <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-in/lists/liverpool-exploring-martin-zubimendi-transfer-arne-slot-stiff-competition-from-man-utd/bltd2f7050e2b147d95" target="_blank">Liverpool are ready to activate a €60 million (£51.3m/65.5m) release clause</a> in his Real Sociedad contract. However, the Basque club are hesitant to lose one of its most significant players and have been trying to persuade him to turn down a transfer to the Premier League this summer.

WHAT HAPPENED?

According to <a href="https://www.thetimes.com/sport/football/article/real-sociedad-martin-zubimendi-51m-release-clause-liverpool-9d30vcg90" target="_blank">The Times</a>, Zubimendi has been informed by Real Sociedad that in order to depart his boyhood club, he must activate his own release clause. If Liverpool activates the option in his contract, Zubimendi would have to personally submit the sum at the La Liga headquarters in Madrid.

Real Sociedad are still attempting to convince the midfield player to stay since he hasn't made up his mind to move to England. According to a report earlier this week, La Real also attempted to persuade him to stay by showcasing the food, weather, and beauty of San Sebastian in a presentation.
