Graphic content: Evra shows off gruesome leg injury that needed three stitches

Patrice Evra showed earlier this season when he was at Marseille that he is not afraid to back down from confrontation.

The veteran left-back was ultimately sacked by the Ligue 1 club for kicking out at a fan prior to a Europa League match against Vitoria Guimaraes in November.

After a troubled spell in France, the 36-year-old has returned to the Premier League, where he has joined up with David Moyes’ West Ham.

Evra made his first start in England’s top flight for the Hammers on Saturday, when they went to Liverpool. Although the match ended unhappily for the London side, who suffered a 4-1 defeat, it was an experience the French defender cherished – despite getting a nasty wound on his leg.

“That why I miss the @premierleague wake up the next day with 3 stitches I love this game,” he posted to his Instagram followers, along with a picture of the nasty gash on his leg.

Evra managed 90 minutes at Anfield, where he played on the left of midfield, and he will hope to regain fitness ahead of a trip to Swansea on Saturday.
