Campbell was reportedly rushed to hospital after being taken ill. Everton have now sent out a message of support for the striker and have confirmed he is currently 'very unwell'.

WHAT HAPPENED?

<a href="https://x.com/Everton/status/1797307810943775184" target="_blank">Everton posted a statement on X</a>, which read: "We have been made aware our former striker Kevin Campbell is currently very unwell."Not just a great footballer but an incredible person, Kevin is, and always has been, a fighter and we wish him and his family well at this challenging time."Sending all our love, Kevin Campbell."

WHAT EVERTON SAID

Campbell played for the Toffees from 1999 till 2005 and became the Merseyside club's captain. In 160 games with the club, he scored 50 goals and provided 13 assists, most of which helped Everton stay afloat in the Premier League and avoid relegation.
