<p>Chelsea's club captain has picked up another hamstring injury that will <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/enzo-maresca-reece-james-injury-update-chelsea/bltbc4a1bc1ddf16fff" target="_blank">keep him out of action until 2025</a>. James has only managed 654 minutes of football since being named skipper 15 months ago but will receive the full support of his team-mates and staff as he prepares to battle through another physical and mental journey. The 24-year-old's most recent scan left him devastated, according to the <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2024/11/28/reece-james-unlikely-to-play-before-the-end-of-the-year/" target="_blank">Telegraph</a>, having <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/reece-james-available-chelsea-enzo-maresca-reveals-plan-prevent-captain-suffering-another-injury/blt36717b23d95fa02b" target="_blank">only just made his comeback</a> in west London.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Although rival fans have poked plenty of fun at James for his constant setbacks, the Chelsea defender made it very clear on his latest Instagram post that these situations can have heavy effects on people's mental health, especially around the Christmas period.</p><p>He said: "Since this injury I’ve had a good amount of support but significantly more hate and negativity. Believe me, I don’t wanna be injured, I’m happiest when I’m playing football. Thanks to the understanding people that support me despite the highs or the lows, it goes a long way. And just to touch on me... I’m doing OK, been better and also been worse. Another challenge ahead accepted. Eventually I’ll come out on top. Against all odds. Lastly, I’d like to touch on the festive period coming, these times are tough for everyone! I wish you all a happy and peaceful festive season."</p>

<p>Chelsea will be without James for their busiest period of the season. In December, they have nine matches, including big clashes against Aston Villa and Tottenham.</p>
