Sergio Aguero has recorded his 200th goal for Manchester City, with the club’s record scorer on target again in a Community Shield clash with Chelsea.
The Argentine striker has been a prolific source of goals throughout his career, with a double century now reached in England.
Aguero has been on City’s books since 2011, with a £38 million transfer fee having been made to look quite the bargain.
Only once has the 30-year-old frontman failed to reach the fabled 20-goal mark during his time at City, with 17 efforts recorded in 2012-13.
He has regularly passed 30 efforts for the Blues over any given campaign, with that impressive tally hit again last season.
Aguero will be hoping for more of the same in 2018-19, with Pep Guardiola likely to look to him for attacking inspiration during the defence of a Premier League crown and Champions League challenge.
He is already up and running, with a typically composed finish produced during a meeting with Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
With Phil Foden having surged towards the penalty area, the youngster proceeded to tee up Aguero on the edge of the box.
He required just one touch to roll the ball onto his left foot before drilling low past Willy Caballero and record a landmark goal for City.
Aguero’s effort against Chelsea, when added to the rest of his record-breaking haul, offers further evidence of how difficult he is to contain, with the City star one of the best all-round frontmen in the game.
Guardiola, City and Aguero will be expecting plenty more goals to come in 2018-19, with a modern-day great chasing down more notable landmarks.
Heading into the new season, he is currently just seven efforts short of 150 in the Premier League and seven competitive appearances away from reaching 300.
