Bandari 2-1 AFC Leopards: Aussems starts Ingwe reign with loss

Belgian Patrick Aussems started his reign at AFC Leopards with a 2-1 loss against Bandari at Mbaraki Stadium on Friday.

William Wadri scored a brace for the Dockers while Marvin Nabwire struck for Ingwe.

The hosts started the match on a high, putting their visitors under immense pressure right from the get-go.

Their good start paid dividends as Ugandan Wadri needed just five minutes to get the ball into the back of the net. It was punishment for the 13-time league champions who started the match slowly.

It took Leopards time to settle and match the Dockers who looked hungry for more goals. In the 13th minute, the Coastal-based charges doubled their advantage. Wadri, once again, managed to get past his markers before rounding the goalkeeper and tapping the ball into an empty net.

The second goal was a wake-up call for Ingwe. They reacted by increasing their tempo and trying to possess the ball more.

The tactic worked as they managed to halve the scores in the 25th minute courtesy of Nabwire.

Some 10 minutes later, the Dockers almost scored their third - Abdallah Hassan managed to get past his marker before passing the ball to the red-hot Wadri. The Ugandan easily went past Robinson Kamura but his shot was deflected for an unfruitful corner.

Neither of the two teams managed to get another goal in the first half.

After the break, Leopards came back stronger hoping to get their equalizer, but it was not easy to break down a resolute Bandari defence.

The hosts limited their attacks and resorted to cautious play, and in the end, they were rewarded with maximum points. It was their fifth win this season from the 12 matches they have played.

They have drawn four games and drawn the remaining three.

For Ingwe, this was their third loss in the 10 games played. They have won six matches and drawn one.

At Kericho Green Stadium, hosts Ulinzi Stars defeated Sofapaka FC 2-0 to register their third win of the season.

After a goalless first half, Omar Boraafya opened the scoring in favour of the Soldiers in the 49th minute. Oscar Wamalwa doubled the advantage from the penalty spot four minutes later to ensure his team get maximum points.
