Fantasy Football: Aguero leads the line for our Premier League Team of the Week

The second week of the Premier League season is in the books now, and it’s still defenders that look the best investment thus far. In fact, there are more of them in the top ten scoring players in the goal game than any other position.

Wingbacks, in particular, have been fantastic thus far, with 18 Premier League goals this season having been either scored or assisted by a wide defender. To see who else has impressed in the early stages of the season, feel free to peruse our match week two Goal Fantasy Team of the Week.

GK: Neil Etheridge - Cardiff - 1 Game, 1 Penalty Save, 5 Saves, 1 Clean Sheet = 14 Points

DEF: James Milner - Liverpool - 1 Game, 1 Goal, 1 Clean Sheet = 14 Points

At the time of writing, no player has more Fantasy points in the Goal game than James Milner. With Liverpool having already racked up two clean sheets and the fact that Milner is being played in the midfield, there is excellent value here. Add in the fact that he seems to be on penalty duty and his low £6.2 price tag, and Milner is looking increasingly like a must own.

DEF: Steve Cook - Bournemouth - 1 Game, 1 Goal, 1 Assist, 1 Goal Conceded = 11 Points

DEF: Ricardo Pereira - Leicester City - 1 Game, 1 Assist, 1 Clean Sheet = 10 Points

Two assists in two matches is certainly not a bad way to start his Premier League career, but unfortunately, the stats don’t really back him to continue his creative ways. He currently sits outside the top 15 in both chances created and crosses and, with Vardy facing a three-match suspension, it’s unclear who would finish the few chances he does craft. Look elsewhere, for now.

DEF: Marcos Alonso - Chelsea - 1 Game, 1 Goal, 1 Assist, 2 Goals Conceded = 10 Points

MID: Henrikh Mkhitaryan - Arsenal - 1 Game, 1 Goal, 1 Assist = 11 Points

Lots of people were high on Mkhitaryan coming into this season, and his performance this week certainly rewarded those who did. The only real knock on him last year was that he far outperformed his creative stats but he currently ranks first in chances created, which could be pointing towards a big year for the Armenian. Facing just one top 10 defence in his next five matches, Mkhitaryan looks a promising player for both Arsenal and your Fantasy team.

MID: Theo Walcott - Everton - 1 Game, 1 Goal, 1 Assist = 11 Points

Fantasy team of the week matchweek 2

MID: David Silva - Manchester City - 1 Game, 1 Goal = 8 Points

MID: Mohamed Salah – Liverpool – 1 Game, 2 Assists = 8 Points

FOR: Sergio Aguero - Manchester City - 1 Game, 3 Goals, 1 Assist = 20 Points

Aguero recorded his ninth Premier League hat-trick at the weekend and now sits just two shy of Alan Shearer’s all-time record. The Argentine is now tied for first in both goals and shots on target in the Premier League thus far and has the most points of any forward in the Goal game. With City boasting arguably the easiest schedule over the next five weeks, not owning Aguero is a risky gamble.

FOR: Troy Deeney - Watford - 1 Game, 1 Goal, 1 Assist = 10 Points
