Kaizer Chiefs suffer Nkosingiphile Ngcobo injury blow

Kaizer Chiefs have announced that midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo is set to undergo further tests on Monday to determine the extent of his Achilles injury.

The injury update comes after ‘Mshini’ was stretchered off during their Premier Soccer League (PSL) match against SuperSport United on Friday night.

In a statement on Twitter, the Soweto giants confirmed the 19-year-old midfielder has hurt his Achilles and will see a specialist on Monday.

Despite showing hunger to continue playing a part in the game which coach Ernst Middendorp’s charges drew 1-1 at Mbombela Stadium, the South African junior international was substituted towards the end of the contest.

With 20 minutes remaining on the clock, the Amakhosi technical team introduced Philani Zulu for Ngcobo as he was surging closes to his first full PSL debut.

Moreover, the injury comes as a huge blow to the Naturena-based club as they seem to have a growing list of injured players as the season draws to a close.

Depending on the extent of the injury, he could join the likes of goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune, Erick Mathoho, Lebogang Manyama, and Happy Mashiane among others on the sidelines.
