Niger Government dissolves Tornadoes management

Niger State Government has announced the dissolution of the management board of the Niger Tornadoes owing to the team’s spate of poor results in the ongoing topflight season.

The Minna-based side are at the bottom of the Group A of the elite division with 10 points from 13 games with barely nine games to the end of the season and the Niger State Government has wielded the big stick which is aimed at ensuring that the team makes a last-ditch attempt to stay in the elite division beyond this season.

In a press statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Sports Development, Niger State, Dr. Mohammed Gana, the defunct management board was thanked for the effort it put in place towards the running of the club but that the decision to reposition the team was the reason behind its dissolution.

“The management and staff of the Ministry of Sports Development wish to appreciate you and your team for the efforts in the running of the affairs of Tornadoes FC since your appointment,” Gana said.

“However, the Ministry is saddened by the poor performance of the club in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League and therefore wishes to dissolve the present management. The ministry wishes to thank and wish you well in your future endeavours. You are by this notice advice to handover to the Permanent Secretary with immediate effect.”

The announcement came on the heels of Tornadoes goalless draw at home to Enugu Rangers last weekend which meant that the Ikon Allah Boys have only won just one game from 13 matches in the league this season.
