Paul Pogba vs West Ham

Man of the Match Matic helps Pogba set personal best as Man Utd beat West Ham

For the first time in his career, Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has scored in consecutive Premier League appearances.

The 24-year-old struck from distance in the final stages of his side's 2017-18 Premier League opener against West Ham as the Red Devils cruised to a 4-0 victory at Old Trafford

Pogba scored a first-half goal in United's final league fixture in the 2016-17 season in which Jose Mourinho's beat Crystal Palace 2-0 at Old Trafford.

Nemanja Matic, who was involved in the build-up to Pogba's effort against the Hammers, was signed by Mourinho to allow Pogba to play in a more advanced midfield role without defensive restrictions.

The former Chelsea midfielder played a major part in United's thrashing of the West Ham and was subsequently named Man of the Match.

Romelu Lukaku scored twice on his Premier League bow for United, becoming the fourth player to do so - only Ruud van Nistelrooy, James Wilson and Marcus Rashford can also claim that feat.

As a result of their 4-0 win, United go top of the Premier League table after the first weekend of fixtures, with Huddersfield, Manchester City and Tottenham completing the early top four.
